Saskatoon police chief proposes licensing escort industry
The escort industry in Saskatoon could soon be easier to monitor if the proposal to license it is approved.
Right now police officers have no authority to go into storefront parlours or check escort ads on line.
Police chief Clive Weighill was on John Gormley Live on Monday morning and said it's a pretty simple concept as to what the license would entail.
“We have a system here where we’re working with the internet and escort services and adult services, that isn’t being regulated and we want to ensure that there’s no children involved in this,” said Weighill.
Weighill is sending a report on the proposed license to the board of police commissioners in October.
If the board likes the idea, the report would then get sent on to city council for final approval.
