Saskatoon police hires social media expert
The Saskatoon Police Service has hired a social media expert to more effectively communicate with the public.
Kelsie Fraser will be the new voice behind the police service's Twitter and Facebook accounts.
She said many businesses and other police departments have already incorporated social media in order to reach different sections of the population.
"The demographic that's coming in may not use traditional mediums such as the newspaper and things like that to get their news" so it's important that the police take advantage of these new methods of communication, she said.
Fraser added that by using both Twitter and Facebook, followers will not only recieve updates instantaneously but they can also communicate directly with the police if they have questions regarding a bylaw.
