Armed with an umbrella, a travel mug and her laptop, principal Michelle Chuhaniuk is working from the roof on a cloudy Tuesday morning.

"The kids are hoping and praying this morning that it starts raining on their principal, because that's what it's all about," she laughed, from her outdoor office at Pope John Paul II elementary.

Students were challenged to raise $2,000 in pledges for their annual spell-a-thon this year, when they surpassed the goal, Chuhaniuk kept her promise to move her office to the rooftop.

"The little monsters raised $4,000 this year to get me up here, I'm absolutely miserable, but it beats shaving my head," she said.

Chuhaniuk adds that she's actually getting a lot of work done without interruptions , catching up on three months worth of emails.

The money raised is earmarked for new tables at the school.
