Celebrity wedding benefits Saskatoon SPCA
The Saskatoon SPCA is receiving a surge of donations thanks to this weekend’s wedding of Saskatonian Shannon Tweed and KISS bassist Gene Simmons, who tied the knot in Beverly Hills.
Following the marriage announcement, Tweed made a public request that well-wishers could make donations to go to Saskatoon's SPCA in lieu of buying the couple wedding gifts.
Tiffany Koback with the SPCA is pleased with the preliminary numbers, and hopes to have a final total by the end of the week.
“We received $5,700,” said Koback.
“We are really happy with that and we really appreciate everybody who came forward.”
Koback adds that a lot of Tweed's family has stopped by to make donations.
The SPCA states that they care for nearly 5,000 animals each year. The cash will go towards medical care, equipment and upgrading the kennel room.
