No more free parking in downtown Regina
On Saturday the City of Regina started enforcing time limits on downtown parking meters.
After two hours of free Saturday parking, drivers can now be given a ticket.
Calvin Ford was heading to the farmer’s market with his family.
“It’s Saturday. A lot of businesses aren’t doing top notch business on Saturday, so we shouldn't have to be paying on Saturday,” said Ford.
Sharon Coffin agreed.
“Parking is at a premium downtown and it'd be great if there weren't any parking fees,” said Coffin.
Kevin Boehmer parked three blocks away from the farmers market. He admitted that finding parking downtown during the farmers market is a challenge.
“I think it’s a good way to move people out of the downtown parking area so that more people can come down and enjoy the park and enjoy the farmers market,” said Boehmer.
Most people were unaware of the city’s decision to start enforcing parking tickets on Saturdays.
