Police chase ends with search of 10-kilometer area
A number of RCMP detachments were involved in an early morning chase that started in Meadow Lake today.
It started when Meadow Lake RCMP pulled over a truck that was driving erratically in the city.
Then the truck then took off, at one point aiming at the officer and his vehicle, before veering away and someone in the truck threw a full beer can at the cruiser.
The chase began, first heading towards Green Lake, where the truck avoided a spike strip by cutting through the ditch.
A second spike strip, rolled out about 12 kilometres south of Beauval, successfully stopped the truck by flattening three tires.
As soon as the truck stopped, seven people jumped out and took off into the push, being pursued by officers from five RCMP detachments.
A woman surrendered to police soon after, but it took over and hour and a search of more 10 kilometers and the help of the Meadow Lake Police Dog
Service to catch the other six. All seven people are now in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
Police have since learned the vehicle was stolen from Cold Lake Alberta earlier in the day.
