Two-year investigation leads to charges in double-fatal crash
A young man from Sturgis faces a pair of charges for impaired driving causing death almost two full years after a deadly crash near Preeceville.
It happened on Highway 47 south of Preeceville on Sept. 24, 2011. A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were killed. Two others were seriously injured in the single vehicle roll-over. The seven occupants of the vehicle were all thrown from the car.
The now-19-year-old also faces two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm as well as dangerous driving charges. He cannot be named because he was under 18 at the time of the crash. RCMP will only say it has taken two years for charges to be laid due to the length of the investigation.
Preeceville is 100 kilometers north of Yorkton.
